Opening Act is excited to announce our highly anticipated Summer Theatre Camp for 2026.

Camp runs 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from July 13-July 24 at Centennial Hall, 1800 Pontiac Street, Denver, CO 80220. The program’s grand finale performance is on July 24 at 6 p.m. At Opening Act, we believe in the power of individuality and strive to enrich the lives of our students through creativity and self-expression. Summer Camp offers a unique opportunity for young Black girls to learn and grow in a safe and inclusive environment using theatre arts to build critical personal skills and confidence. 

About Camp 

Summer camp 2026 is meticulously designed to ignite imagination, build confidence and foster self-expression. A wide range of classes are offered, which include improvisation, acting techniques, movement and dance for the stage, vocal coaching and singing, creative writing, an introduction to behind-the-scenes work, and artistic use of social and broadcast media. We will also have inspirational guest speakers. 

Camp Fee

The two-week camp fee is $125. Our fundraising efforts help us make our programs affordable and allow us to offer limited partial assistance to students in need. To be considered for assistance, prospective students should submit a written statement no more than 250 words explaining why attending theatre camp is important to them personally. Scholarship submission deadline is  Monday, June 22, 2026. Please have written statement submission in by deadline to be considered for assistance. Parents are responsible for transportation. Camp provides lunch and snacks. Please let us know of any food allergies.

Application and Enrollment

To enroll, complete the online application below or request a copy via email from openingactboard@gmail.com. After you send in your registration form(s), our dedicated summer camp committee will carefully review your application and reach out to you within two weeks to confirm your acceptance and discuss camp fees. We truly wish we could accommodate every child, but space is limited. To ensure your child's spot, we strongly encourage you to submit your application by the June 1, 2026, deadline. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity! Once your daughter has been accepted, payments MUST be submitted by July 1, using a check, cash, Zelle or Cash App.
